KUCHING, April 28: Bintulu MP Dato Seri Tiong King Sing is urging the Bintulu District Officer to address the separation issue among longhouse residents due to “differences in opinions”.
According to Tiong, who is also Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) president, visited longhouses around the Sungai Binyo area yesterday (April 27) and found that some of the longhouses were divided due to the issue.
“Otherwise, we will not be able to update the information and details of the occupants in the longhouse and it will have an impact (on its residents) in the future,” said Tiong in a Facebook post yesterday.
On the same note, Tiong said he also reminded community leaders and district office officials to always be active to address disputes and problems that arise in longhouses.
He also said any problems that arise should be resolved quickly to ensure that they will not get worse and affect the wellbeing of its residents.
“Racial harmony and cultural diversity in Sarawak is a national model, and it is an amazing phenomenon in this beautiful land of Sarawak.
“The secret to maintaining harmony is that the people of Sarawak need to be tolerant, respectful and love each other, including being open to understanding and accepting the differences between us,” he added. — DayakDaily
