Bidayuh Mystique Festival 2022 expected to attract at least 4,000 visitors

KUCHING, July 12: Persatuan Segu Bunuk Penrissen (PSBP) is organising Bidayuh Mystique Festival 2022 from July 29 until 31 to showcase Bidayuh arts, culture and cuisine.

According to PSBP patron Datuk Willie Mongin, the three-day event at St Paul Parish Hall along Jalan Borneo Heights will feature activities including a traditional Bidayuh food cooking competition and traditional Bidayuh dance.


“For the three-day event, we are expecting between four and five thousand people to come.

“The event is also open to Bidayuh from other areas and other communities as well,” said Willie who is the Puncak Borneo MP, at a press conference today at his service centre along Jalan Borneo Heights.

He pointed out that the highlight of the event is the Bidayuh Mystique beauty contest, which offers prize money of RM2,000 for the champion, while the runner-up and third place holders will receive RM1,500 and RM1,000, respectively.

Willie, who is the Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities said about RM50,000 in prize money is up for grabs.

He also revealed that Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Dr Santhara Kumar is expected to officiate the event on July 30.

“For the event, we are also inviting both federal and State agencies to join us,” he added.

Among those present at the conference were PSBP chairman Gabriel Michael Tomi and secretary Aden Nagrace. — DayakDaily
