KUCHING, Nov 5: Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) launched #TRIBESPIRIT as its newest team-building product for corporate meetings and incentives market in Sibu.
BESarawak, in a statement, said 25 participants from the local industry had experienced the course to promote Sibu as the next corporate meetings and incentives destination in Sarawak.
The team-building kicked off yesterday (Nov 4) with a motivation session by renowned corporate training provider Asia Ability, followed by the flag-off at 1.45pm.
Participants, known as ‘Warriors’, will complete a series of challenges around Sibu, showcasing the best of the city’s tourism and hospitality while promoting team-building capabilities.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Sibu Municipal Council chairman Clarence Ting, also Sibu Business Events Committee chairman, said it is also an opportunity for the city to demonstrate its ability to host international business events.
“TRIBESPIRIT is our belief that we are stronger when we move forward together, and Sibu’s industry is united when it comes to business events,” he said.
In 2023, Sibu has become an increasingly popular city for business events with an increase in its economic impact, delegate numbers and job opportunities by 102 per cent since 2021.
Sibu has generated approximately RM61.7 million in total economic impact, RM33.5 million in direct delegate expenditure, and created 4,894 additional jobs for the city’s population.
Meanwhile, BESarawak chief executive officer Amelia Roziman said the event in Sibu is the final of the Statewide #TRIBESPIRIT team building launch.
“The corporate meetings and incentives market are fairly new to Sarawak, having started only in 2019, but with the industry’s creativity and determination, Sibu has the potential to become a preferred corporate meetings and incentives destination,” she added.
