KUCHING, Oct 1: Folks in Belawai now get to enjoy 30 per cent discounts on essential goods such as sugar and cooking oil in conjunction with the Keluarga Malaysia Cheap Sales Programme (JMKM).
The launch in Kampung Belawai on Friday (Sept 30) marked the first JMKM in Belawai state constituency, and the fourth in Kuala Rajang at the parliamentary level.
The programme was officiated by Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datu Len Talif Salleh, who is also Kuala Rajang MP, and Tanjong Manis MP Yusuf Abdul Wahab.
Len, when met by reporters, expressed thanks to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) Mukah branch and strategic partners for making JMKM successful in his constituency.
Meanwhile, he also urged the Federal government to allocate more funding to Sarawak for basic infrastructure development.
“For Tanjong Manis, I hope that allocations can be channelled because many infrastructures are still lacking especially in the rural areas,” he said, according to a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
JMKM, previously known as the Malaysian Family Sales Programme (PJKM), is an initiative by the government to help especially the B40 groups to purchase necessities at cheaper prices. — Dayakdaily
