With a height of 145.5 metres, equivalent to a 45-story building, and a length of 870 metres, the bridge is set to become the highest cable-stayed bridge in Malaysia.

Strategically located in the heart of Sri Aman town and connecting to Betong town across the Batang Lupar River, this bridge will serve as an important link between Sarawak’s Coastal Road and Pan Borneo Highway.

During a briefing session during a site visit to the bridge, director Dr Cassidy Morris was briefed on the 21-kilometre road alignment, which includes a 3.2-kilometer road to Sri Aman and a 3.8-kilometre road to Betong as part of Sarawak’s Second Trunk Road (STR).

Once completed, the travel distance between Sri Aman and Betong is expected to reduce from 71 kilometers to only 28 kilometers, while the travel time will likely be reduced from one hour to just 30 minutes.

In his speech, Cassidy expressed JKR’s commitment to ensuring that this project is carried out efficiently and safely, for the long-term benefit of the people and the development of the state. – DayakDaily
