BAU, May 1: The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts will render assistance to promote tourist spots in Serembu, said Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting.

“For tourism spots in Serembu and Bau in general, the ministry will give the necessary assistance such as helping to promote products from the area, as we used to do and will continue to do.

“For financial assistance to improve facilities, I will bring the matter for discussion with the ministry,” Ting said during a media conference last night (April 30).

Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh also attended the media conference at Ayak Gallery at Siniawan Heritage Town.

Ting pointed out that the tourist spots in Serembu that need aggressive promotion are the Buddhist Village, Keranji Borneo Farm, Serembu Eco Park, Paku Maze Rock, Paku Hot Spring, Merembeh Caving Park, Fairy Cave Nature Park, and Gumbang Heritage Village.

Earlier, Ting, with Miro and the head of the ecotourism and community-based tourism (CBT) section of the Tourism Ministry, Dr Victor Luna Amin, visited the areas mentioned.

Ting voiced how impressed he was with the tourism products offered and believed it would benefit the locals.

“I am truly amazed by the effort by the local assemblyman (Miro Simuh) to get the community involved with the tourism products in the area,” Ting remarked.

Ting also strongly believed that the tourism sector in Serembu, and Bau in general, would grow due to the proximity to the city, the opening of the border, more incoming flights to the State, and the near completion of the Pan Borneo Highway. — DayakDaily
