KUCHING, June 8: Four suspects who were arrested in connection with the assault on a Sarawak Deputy Minister on May 30 have been released on police bail.

The arrests of the four suspects, aged between 23 and 32, took place in Tabuan Hilir, Semariang, Petra Jaya, and Jalan Simpang Tiga. They were linked to the assault case that occurred on May 30.

Magistrate Zaiton granted the police permission to detain the four suspects for four days until June 8 to aid in the police investigation.

Additionally, the police confiscated a white Volkswagen car in Taman Sukma, Jalan Sultan Tengah, which is believed to have been driven by the suspects during the assault.

During the course of the police investigation, it was discovered that the four suspects had a history of criminal activity and drug use.

Initial urine screening tests revealed that three of them tested positive for methamphetamine/syabu, while another suspect tested positive for THC/Gardena drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 506 and Section 323 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
