KUCHING, July 12: The Asean Australian Engineering Congress (AAEC) 2022 will provide insights on digital disruption and how organisations can mitigate its effects on their businesses and operations.
Its organising chairman Dennis Ong said under the current uncertain geopolitical environment, businesses are forced to reevaluate their business operations and plans to accommodate the current global unpredictability.
Digitalisation is enabling this transition as current and outdated processes are not sustainable and businesses need to plan a strategy to handle digital disruption to their future growth.
“However, digital disruption can happen at any time, in any industry and the impact is not easily predicted.
“Organisations need to understand and have a mitigation plan for various scenarios by understanding how digital disruption will impact their businesses and operations,” he said at the launch of AAEC 2022 held at Tegas Digital Village in Samajaya High Tech Park today.
He also noted that digital disruption forces organisations to adopt new technologies to meet their organisations and customers’ expectations.
“The biggest risk that comes with digital disruption is when organisations do not embrace the opportunities or ignore its impact,” he added.
The Asean Australian Engineering Congress (AAEC) 2022 held from July 12 to July 14, is jointly organised by Engineers Australia, Swinburne University Of Technology Sarawak Campus and Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation Berhad (SDEC) in partnership with Tegas Digital Village and Sarawak Development Institute (SDI).
With the theme “Engineering Solutions in the Age of Digital Disruption”, the AAEC will see innovative engineering projects and potential solutions presented in the form of technical presentations and forum discussions.
The three-day congress also provides opportunities to network with university lecturers, students, staff of government implementing agencies and practising engineers, and to have constructive discussions and propose solutions to problem statements presented during the congress.
It aims to provide a forum to review knowledge, disseminate information, promote awareness, facilitate collaboration and make recommendations to implement sustainable business plan to meet the disruption of new digital technologies.
