KUCHING, Oct 13:  PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim claims that he has a convincing majority in Parliament and that Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin must resign.

Anwar said this in a press conference held at 2pm at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur after meeting Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at the Astana at 10.30am today.

“We have registered a formidable convincing majority among the parliamentarians.  We would appeal to Malaysians to exercise patience, wisdom to allow the King to digest and decide based on the Constitution and the discretion of His Highness.

“Meanwhile, we must also remember that Prime Minister (Tan Sri) Muhyiddin Yassin has lost his majority and therefore it is appropriate for him to resign,” said Anwar.

He added that he had handed over the necessary documents and Statutory Declarations (SDs) to the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong during the meeting.

“As I have promised during the press conference held on Sept 23, I’m now fulfilling it by presenting it to the His Royal Highest verified documents on the majority of solid and convincing of the members of Parliament supporting me.

“So, I wish to appeal to all quarters to give time and space to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to carry out his responsibility in accordance with the Constitution and his discretion to go to the documents and in the next one to two days, will call party leaders to verify and to get input and views.

“So today, its not about winning and losing for anyone but to appeal to all that we can further strengthen this country to overcome Covid-19 pandemic and to further develop the economy that is convincing.

“But suffice for me to say that the government of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has fallen,” said Anwar.

He added that the new government, which will be formed, will be for all Malaysians even though the focus will be on Muslims and the Bumiputera.

“I would like to emphasis here that all Malaysians’ rights will be safeguarded,” he assured.

He further explained that the documents which he handed to the King contained verified SDs from party leaders.— DayakDaily
