Overweight man air-lifted to Sarawak Heart Centre

KUCHING, Oct 13: A 120-kilogramme young man was air-lifted to the Sarawak Heart Centre in Kota Samarahan here following a medical emergency this morning.

Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), in a report, revealed that the 24-year-old overweight man had to be urgently transported to the Heart Centre from the Bintulu Hospital.


The patient was treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Bintulu Hospital for Missed Anterior Myocardial Infarction Kilip IV.

He was in critical condition with Cardiac Arrhythmia-Ventricular Tachycardia and as such required emergency treatment at the Sarawak Heart Centre.

The medical evacuation or mercy flight by Bomba Air Unit was headed by Captain PgKB II Wahyudi B Mohd Sayuhti and co-pilot PKPgB Che Muhammad Azlan B Che Mohammad.

The patient was also accompanied by three medical officers and nurses from Bintulu Hospital.

The AW189 helicopter, which was stationed in Miri, arrived at Bintulu at about 8am. It departed Bintulu at 8.20am and landed at Sarawak Heart Centre at 10am. —DayakDaily
