Andy Jong remains head of Northern Sarawak Journalist Association

MIRI, Jan 23: Andy Jong of Sin Chew Daily News, Miri retained the post of Northern Sarawak Journalist Association (NSJA) president for the 2019-2020 term during the association’s annual general meeting (AGM) here today.

Jong, who also led NSJA for the 2017-2018 term, won uncontested today.


His deputy is Rosemaria Buma of Utusan Borneo (Miri).

The latest lineup is as follows: secretary Zaheera Johari (The Borneo Post, Miri), vice-secretary Cindy Lai Pek Sian (The Borneo Post, Miri), treasurer Chai Choon Chin (Miri Daily News) and vice-treasurer Thing Joo Hua (Sin Chew Daily News).

The nine ordinary members are Liong Chai Ling (Utusan Sarawak, Miri), Lee Cheng Choi (See Hua Daily News), Margaret Ringgit (The New Sarawak Tribune, Miri), Michelle Choo Lee Nyuk (Sin Chew Daily News), Catherine Igang (RTM Miri), Mohamad Alif (Utusan Borneo, Miri), Esther Ching Heng Sing (See Hua Daily News), Jennifer Laeng (The Borneo Post, Miri) and Lee Tiong Kiong (United Daily News, Miri).

In his brief speech, Jong called on all members to give their undivided support to the association.

“NSJA is a non-profit organisation, and we also need outsiders’ support for its continuation,” he said.
