MIRI, Dec 31: Rural schools in Batu Niah and Bekenu will receive more than 150 books and school kits, thanks to Belle’s Bookshop and Toys World Miri.

The donations included 50 dictionaries.

The project, initiated by Lions Club of Batu Niah, managed to raise support from the two donors to help rural schools in Batu Niah and Bekenu to increase book stocks in their respective libraries.

The handover ceremony took place today at Toys World Miri’s premises.

Receiving on behalf of Lions Club of Batu Niah was its president Andy Jong, while the donors were represented by Joseph Chai of Toys World Miri.

Belle’s Bookshop and Toys World Miri have been operating in Miri for the past 35 years, since March 1988 at Beautiful Jade Centre.

In September 1992, they moved to Pelita Commercial Centre.

However, the premises are set to close down today (December 31) after more than three decades in business. — DayakDaily
