Alleged drug trafficker nabbed at Pujut Bus Terminal

MIRI, July 12: Police arrested a 24-year-old man at Pujut Bus Terminal here yesterday afternoon for alleged drug trafficking.

Miri acting police chief DSP Aldrin Junaidi Kutoi said officers from the Miri Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department detained the suspect at about 2pm.

In fact, he said the team was already at the bus terminal at about 11am. They pounced when the suspect, who was behaving suspiciously, emerged from the terminal’s cargo counter carrying a box.


“The police team stopped him, conducted a body check and inspected the box’s contents. They found a transparent plastic packet containing a substance believed to be drugs (ketamine). It weighed 500 grammes and has a street value of RM75,000,” said Aldrin.

He added that the suspect also tested positive for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (drug trafficking). — DayakDaily
