KUCHING, Sept 10: All 40 districts in Sarawak have registered at least one Covid-19 infection today, with the Statewide caseload reaching 3,734 which is to date the second-highest record after 3,747 cases on Sept 5.
This is known to be the first time where all districts are down with Covid-19 cases in one day.
According to the reports by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), Kuching reported 921 cases, followed by Serian (359), Sibu (338), Bintulu (218), Samarahan (195), Simunjan (150), Miri (148), Mukah (146), Bau (130), Sri Aman (115), Asajaya (113), Saratok (108), and Pakan (106).
Other districts that recorded two-digit case numbers were Betong (78), Kapit (65), Subis (58), Lubok Antu (57), Tebedu (56), Sarikei (50), Limbang (41), Meradong (39), Julau (34), Kanowit (34), Song (33), Selangau (28), Dalat (18), Belaga (17), Tanjung Manis (13), Matu (13), Tatau (11), and Pusa (10).
The remaining districts with less than nine new cases included Daro (8), Lawas (7), Beluru (6), Sebauh (3), Lundu (2), Telang Usan (2), Marudi (2), Kabong (1), and Bukit Mabong (1).
Meanwhile, the State also recorded five Covid-19 deaths today involving individuals with comorbidities aged between 68 and 93, bringing the total death toll to 607 thus far.
SDMC mentioned that of the total cases, 2,783 cases were screened after having contact with positive cases where 357 were symptomatic.
Another 208 cases involved individuals linked to active clusters where 46 of them showed signs and symptoms of Covid-19.
Additionally, 342 cases were from other screenings in health facilities and 390 from screening of symptomatic individuals.
SDMC, in a statement today, further reported three Import-A cases involving individuals returning from Equatorial Guinea (1) and Indonesia (2) as well as eight Import B cases from Kuala Lumpur (5) and Selangor (3).
On the clinical categories, SDMC mentioned that 2,921 cases were in Category 1 whereby the patients do not develop any symptoms, while there were 805 cases with mild symptoms in Category 2.
There were also four Category 3 cases involving patients with lung infections, one Category 4 case involving those with lung infection while requiring oxygen, and three Category 5 cases with lung infection while needing ventilators.
On the Covid-19 recovery rate, 2,262 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 110,392 or 74.71 per cent.
As of this day, there are 36,535 individuals still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the State. — DayakDaily
