KUCHING, March 2: Saratok MP Ali Biju and Puncak Borneo MP Willie Mongin have vowed to ensure that Sarawkian voices are heard by the federal government.

Both Sarawakian MPs in a joint statement asserted they will continue to put Sarawak at the top of their priorities and ensure that they become the voices of Sarawakians and serve as their bridge to the federal government.

“Firstly, as Sarawakians in the new government led by Yang Amat Berhormat Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, our presence would ensure that Sarawak is well represented.

“Sarawak’s voice must be heard in this new alignment and we hope to execute this duty and responsibility with great courage and determination.

“Secondly, we are responsible to our constituents who voted us to represent them and in turn bring them development.

“Both our constituencies are rural-based and in dire need of development. We cannot deliver development if we choose to be in the opposition.

“In the government, we have access to all the mechanisms available to ensure that the vision of Shared Prosperity is realised by 2030.

“We give you our word that we, “anak Sarawak”, will continue to put Sarawak on top of our priorities and ensure that we will be your voice in and bridge to the federal government.”

Meanwhile, both Ali and Willie observed that the events of the past week had been chaotic and keenly aware that their voters, friends and supporters were befuddled and stressed by the fast-paced turn of events which has distressed them all.

Therefore, they noted that they need to clarify and shed light on their stance.

“As events were proceeding at lightning speed, we both conferred and decided that whatever position we took would ultimately be based on one underlying objective, which is Sarawak’s welfare,” they stressed. — DayakDaily
