PRS Youth optimistic about Muhyiddin as new PM

KUCHING, March 2: PRS Youth Wing has high expectations that the new Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin will empathise with Sarawakians over their rights.

In a statement congratulating Muhyiddin on his appointment, Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth Chief Datuk Snowdan Lawan also expressed hope that the former will steer Malaysia’s leadership and economy back on track.

“We expect Muhyiddin to understand the oil and gas royalty issues and Sarawak’s development agenda on which we’re being left far behind. These are some of the issues close to every Sarawakians’ heart,” Snowdan revealed.

He also reaffirmed and endorsed the youth wing’s support for Muhyiddin as the eighth prime minister of Malaysia.

Muhyiddin was appointed by Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah on Feb 29, followed by his swearing in yesterday.

“However, our stance is very clear and consistent, that we may not necessarily be part of Muhyiddin’s coalition. Similarly, the Sarawak state leadership’s stand is that we place our nation’s interest utmost but without compromising on Sarawak’s rights as enshrined in the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” Snowdan asserted, adding that PRS Youth is aligned with the state government’s stance. — DayakDaily
