Aidilfitri visitation sparks Jalan Jambusan-Sunchar Cluster in Bau infecting 18 people and four families

KUCHING, May 31: A Hari Raya visitation involving four families from different localities has triggered a new cluster of Covid-19 known as the Jalan Jambusan-Sunchar Cluster in Bau infecting 18 people.

According to reports from Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the Jalan Jambusan-Sunchar Cluster is a community cluster which spread due to social movement during Hari Raya Aidilfitri.


SDMC said the cluster involved four families from Taman Mutiara, Kampung Melayu Baru, Taman Mawar and Kampung Masjid Bau.

At present, a total of 243 individuals related to the cluster have been screened for Covid-19.

Out of that number, 18 individuals were tested positive for Covid-19, 60 individuals tested negative while the remaining 165 individuals are still awaiting the results of their Covid-19 swab test.

SDMC said all the positive cases have been referred to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Bau Hospital as well as admitted to the Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) in Bau and Kuching for isolation and treatment. — DayakDaily
