Aidel: Proposal for flyover project in Mile 8 submitted to JKR

KUCHING, Nov 24: A proposal to construct a flyover at the traffic light junction in front Penrissen Camp has been submitted to the Public Works Ministry (JKR), said Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development (Infrastructure Development) Aidel Lariwoo.

Aidel said the the proposal will be considered under the 12th Malaysia Plan (Rolling Plan 3, 2023).

He was replying to Batu Kitang assemblyman Lo Khere Chiang question regarding the implementation of the Mile 9 flyover construction during Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting at DUN complex here today.

He added if the project is implemented, it could ease traffic congestion at the Mile 8 traffic light junction, including improve the level of service in terms of traffic volume management.

Meanwhile, in answering Lo’s supplementary questions, Aidel said the scope of works involves the construction of a flyover at Mile 8 junction, widening of the existing Mile 8 signalised junction, and widening of a 4km existing 4 lane road to a six lane road connecting from Mile 7 flyover until Mile 10.
