KUCHING, March 23: Thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds are expected in 18 districts throughout Sarawak until 9pm (March 23).
Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in an advisory notice issued at 5.55pm today said the affected districts area Kuching, Bau, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Sarikei, Julau, Sibu, Mukah, Daro, Matu, Kapit, Song, Bintulu, Tatau, Sebauh, Miri, and Marudi.
The department said a warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20mm/hour that is close to or expected to occur for more than an hour.
It also said that a thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release. — DayakDaily
