KUCHING, Jan 2: Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sarawak urges the state government to tighten the enforcement of the standard operating procedure (SOP) and safety measures at all the ferry points in Sarawak.

Following the incident which took the lives of nine people at the Trisco Ferry point yesterday, PKR Sarawak information chief Abun Sui Anyit hoped that similar incidents will not occur in the future.

He said PKR Sarawak was surprised by the tragedy which occurred on New Year Day and expressed its heartfelt condolences to the family members of the victims.

Yesterday, a four-wheel-drive plunged into the Batang Lupar river near the Triso Ferry point after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

There were nine people inside the car including the driver and all of them were reportedly dead in the incident. —DayakDaily
