KUCHING, July 10: Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, presented ‘korban’ (sacrificial) meat to 100 asnaf (poor) recipients today.
The presentation ceremony took place at Majlis Qurban Perdana held at Dewan Hikmah in Petrajaya.
Organised by Sarawak Islamic Council (SIC), the event was held in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, which is the second biggest holiday celebrated in Islam after Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
According to a report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the programme began with the recitation of prayers and the symbolic ‘ibadah korban’ (slaughtering of animals) at the venue compound.
Amongst those present were the Premier’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang; Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Julaihi Narawi; Deputy Minister for Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi; Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni; Deputy Minister for Law, MA63 and State-Federal Relations Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali; State Secretary Dato Sri Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; SIC president Datu Misnu Taha and Sarawak Mufti Datu Kipli Yassin. — DayakDaily
