KUCHING, Nov 1: Gurdwara Sahib Kuching’s preschool is set to receive a smartboard from Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to bolster digital learning capabilities for young pupils.
Announcing the contribution during the opening ceremony of the Gurdwara’s new extension building today, he noted that the technology would enable children to explore various subjects through interactive methods.

“At the moment, the price is about RM10,000. So I think one classroom should be equipped with a smartboard, and I am contributing that smartboard,” he said.
Elaborating on its educational benefits, he pointed out that the interactive tool would give pupils access to a wide array of online platforms, such as Khan Academy, which offers comprehensive learning materials across science and other key disciplines.
He added that this contribution aligns with a broader state initiative to equip schools across Sarawak with smartboards, provided they have reliable internet connectivity.
Emphasising a forward-looking vision, Abang Johari stressed the importance of early technological exposure to prepare the younger generation for future career paths, particularly in science and other professional fields.
He also praised the Sikh community for completing the Gurdwara’s extension, highlighting its contribution to preschool education, social gatherings and blood donation drives. — DayakDaily
