KUCHING, March 4: Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has approved the proposed Redevelopment of MBKS swimming pool into a Water Fun Park cum Centre of Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy.
This was disclosed by Kuching South City Hall (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng today during his 153rd ShallWeeTalk social media livestream session.
He said on Feb 27, MBKS held a meeting with Abang Johari and Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.
“The Premier agreed to the project and he even added more features, so that it is now much more than it was initially planned.
“We have submitted our proposal to the relevant agencies including SPU (Sarawak Planning Unit) and the Land and Survey Department,” said Wee.
He said it was MBKS hope to call for project tender this year and by the end of this year, the project may commence.
The project is expected to be completed in the next two to three years.
“This project will surely continue. Even if I am no longer mayor, the project will continue and we will keep Kuching residents updated on the project development,” said Wee.
He said upon completion, the project will be a recreational place for families including the elderly and youths to hang out. — DayakDaily
