KUCHING, May 11: The Sarawak Media Conference (SMEC) 2025 is scheduled to be held in the first week of July, says Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs and UKAS) Datuk Abdullah Saidol.
In a TVS report, he said that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to attend the opening ceremony and have dinner at a hotel here in Kuching.
He added that two weeks before the event, media personnel Statewide will be celebrated through a host of activities planned in three zones: Kuching, Sibu, and Miri.
“We will work with all journalist associations in Kuching, Sibu, and Miri to work with UKAS in holding sports events.
“Part of it is to ensure that all media personnel in Sarawak stay together because there is not one journalist in the world who can work alone, and they need help from their fellow media friends in ensuring that pictures, media materials, and information can be presented accurately,” he said.
He said this in a press conference after the launch of the ‘Ari-Ari Gawai’ music video by KUPIKUPI FM Sarawak at the Auditorium of the Tabung Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) Village here on Saturday.
SMEC is part of the Sarawak government’s initiative programme in conjunction with National Journalists’ Day (HAWANA), which Sarawak hosted last year. — DayakDaily
