KUCHING, Oct 12: Ninety-three individuals in Kuching were slapped with compounds for violating Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO) Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) within a span of seven days.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Awang Din Awang Gani disclosed 70 males and 23 females were found to be disobeying the SOPs during separate inspections across the city of Kuching from Oct 5 to 11.
“Out of all the inspections carried out, two of the inspections at two entertainment centres were conducted.
“The first inspection was conducted at an entertainment centre located at Jalan Petanak and a total of 27 customers were compounded while the second inspection conducted at an entertainment centre at Jalan Stutong had 35 customers compounded.
“All of them committed offenses under Rule 3 of PPPPB (No.7) 2020 for not complying with the SOPs while in the premises,” Awang Din revealed.
He stressed that the monitoring and inspection works of such premises would be carried out continuously and intensively despite the indifferent attitudes to this new norm by civilians.
He added strict actions are necessary to curb the spread of Covid-19 which is seen to be growing again these days.
“Prevention is better than cure,” he emphasised in a press statement today.
With that, he urged the public not to be complacent and always remain vigilant when facing the pandemic as the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will not hesitate to impose a compound on any individual who fails to comply with the SOPs. — DayakDaily
