PUTRAJAYA, Sept 28: Nine Sarawak Bumiputera companies have been identified for potential listing on Bursa Malaysia, with two set to make their debut in 2027.
According to a press release, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said this followed United Asiapac Energy’s listing on Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market on Sept 14, with a market capitalisation of RM192.50 million and RM48.74 million in funds raised.
The development is part of the Sarawak government’s 3-7-20 strategic framework, in which Sarawak aims to list three Sarawakian Bumiputera companies on Bursa Malaysia by 2030; develop seven ‘champion’ companies in strategic sectors under PCDS 2030; and elevate 20 per cent of micro enterprises to private limited company status by 2030.
“The Sarawak government will also expand Bumiputera participation in high-growth sectors such as hydrogen, petrochemicals, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, and semiconductors, in line with the Post Covid-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030,” he said at a Bumiputera Economic Council Steering Committee Meeting here today.
At the same time, the Sarawak government is encouraging collaboration between Bumiputera and non-Bumiputera companies through joint ventures, technology partnerships, vendor development, and market access.
“This approach is important in creating a more holistic, inclusive and complementary business ecosystem in Sarawak, while enabling local companies to grow together within regional and global supply chains,” he said.
Talent development will also be strengthened through TVET programmes at CENTEXS, Sarawak Skills, and through collaborations with federal agencies, while RM250 million has been allocated to implement the Free Tertiary Education Scheme (FTES) beginning this year.
“The Sarawak government will continue to strengthen its Bumiputera development agenda through a more integrated approach, focusing on business expansion, talent development, financing, market access, and participation in high-impact sectors,” he said. — DayakDaily
