KUCHING, March 15: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued an advisory indicating that nine districts in Sarawak are likely to experience thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and strong winds until 5pm today.
The affected districts, as outlined in the advisory issued at 1.50pm, include Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri, and Subis.
MetMalaysia clarified that a thunderstorm warning is issued when there are indications of intense rainfall exceeding 20mm/hour, either occurring or expected to occur for more than an hour.
Furthermore, the department specified that such warnings are short-term advisories, valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
Residents in the affected districts are urged to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during the anticipated thunderstorms and adverse weather conditions. — DayakDaily
