KUCHING, April 15: A seven-year-old boy with autism was found dead after being reported missing in Kampung Bunga Rampai, Jalan Batu Kitang, Bau.
In a statement today, a Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak spokesperson said the victim was reported missing from home since 2.30pm yesterday (April 14).
“A search and rescue (SAR) operation was mounted today at 9.45am with four groups, including the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Drone Unit.
“At 12.10pm, firefighters said they saw something floating in Sungai Sarawak Kanan near the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) boat.
“APM and Bomba personnel confirmed that the object was the body of the victim, who was still fully clothed,” he said.
The body was later identified and confirmed by the deceased’s family and then handed over to the police before being transported to the hospital for a post-mortem.
The SAR operation ended at 1pm. — DayakDaily
