MIRI, Sept 18: Six of the nine flood mitigation projects undertaken by Miri City Council (MCC) have been completed, and the remaining three are scheduled to be completed by year end.
The total allocation for these projects is RM8.5 million, and their purpose is to improve the drainage system here, especially in flood-prone areas.
The completed ones are at Jalan Geikie/Jalan Lim Chee Hian, Jalan Kpg Luak, Jalan Krokop 10, Jalan Jee Foh 8A, Jalan Datuk Muip of Taman Piasau, and Jalan Pujut.
The remaing three are at Jalan Sibu-Miri, Taman Tunku Miri (work progress is 50 per cent); Jalan Pujut Adong Pujut Miri (85 per cent); and Jalan Tanjung Batu Pujut Miri (85 per cent).
Mayor Adam Yii, accompanied by MCC secretary Morshidi Fredrick, MCC Infrastructure Committee chairman Abdullah Jaini and councillors made site visits to the yet-to-be-completed project sites last week.
Yii was satisfied with the progress of the three projects and expressed confidence that work could be wrapped up before the rainy season starts at the end of the year. — DayakDaily
