KUCHING, Aug 13: Former Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development Datuk Seri Rina Harun, who is contesting under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) ticket, has failed to capture the Batu Tiga seat against Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Danial Al-Rashid in the Selangor state election yesterday (Aug 12).
Danial is the son of Malaysian actor-comedian Harun Salim Bachik, who passed away in 2015.
The 37-year-old Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) Selangor Youth chief won 29,064 votes, defeating Rina, who polled 25,682 votes and Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (MUDA) candidate Saiyidah Izzati Nur Razak Maideen with 1,908 votes.
Previously, the Batu Tiga seat was held by Rodziah Ismail of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) for three terms before PH decided to field a candidate from Amanah this time around. — DayakDaily
