KUCHING, Sept 24: A 52-year-old man who was found unconscious following a four-vehicle crash at the Jalan Canna traffic lights here last night (Sept 23) has died.
Kuching District Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the victim, who was trapped inside a Toyota Vios after the crash, was later confirmed dead at the scene.
The accident occurred at about 7.59pm and involved a Toyota Vios, Honda CR-V, Honda BR-V and Toyota Harrier.
According to preliminary police investigations, the Toyota Vios was travelling straight in the left lane from the Jalan Stutong traffic lights towards the Jalan Canna traffic lights when it collided with the rear right side of a Honda CR-V.
“The Toyota Vios then moved into the right lane and sideswiped the left side of a Honda BR-V before crashing into the rear of a Toyota Harrier,” Alexson said in a statement today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak had earlier reported that the man was found unconscious and trapped inside the Toyota Vios, with firefighters administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) at the scene.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
