KUCHING, Sept 24: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is mourning the passing of his elder brother, Idrus Ibrahim, who died today.
Anwar shared the news in a Facebook post, saying he received the heartbreaking news while travelling back to Malaysia following a three-day working visit to China.
“It is difficult for me to put into words this sense of loss when someone who shared so many memories throughout the journey of my life is now gone. Only Allah SWT knows how heavy my heart is in accepting this reality,” he said.
Anwar expressed regret at not being able to be by his brother’s side during his final moments, saying he accepted the loss despite still coming to terms with the separation.
“I am saddened that I was unable to be by his side in his final moments, but I accept this with resignation, even as my heart is still trying to come to terms with a separation, we are never truly prepared to face,” he said.
The Prime Minister also prayed for Idrus’ soul to be forgiven for his shortcomings, granted Allah’s mercy and placed among His faithful and righteous servants.
He appealed to members of the public and friends to offer prayers and recite Al-Fatihah for his late brother.
“Thank you for all the memories and kindness you left behind. They will forever remain etched in our memories and hearts,” Anwar said. — DayakDaily
