KOTA SAMARAHAN, Apr 29: Sarawak Health department has prepared 5,000 Covid-19 test kits for the active case detections (ACD) operations here.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said the test kits will be used for ACD operations in Taman Uni Garden and Taman Desa Ilmu from Apr 27-30.
“There is no specific number of target set to test how many people in these two areas, but the health department is prepared,” he said at a press conference during his visit to the Taman Desa Ilmu roadblock and screening centre at Masjid Taman Desa Ilmu.
Apart from the drive-through screening centre at Masjid Taman Ilmu and Taman Uni Garden, medical personnel are also moving from house to house in the two areas to interview every household during the ACD.
Uggah also revealed that a lot of people wanted to do the test but they had to be selective.
“Not everyone can get the test because we have limited number of testing facilities and kit, but we will do what is necessary for people to be tested,” he said, adding that residents in these two areas should cooperate with medical personnel conducting the operation.
Meanwhile, the operation involves a total of 5,300 homes from 3,500 families in the two areas, which are manned by 120 personnel from the Health Department, police, Civil Defence Force, People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and Samarahan district council. —DayakDaily
