KUCHING, Feb 25: An additional five medical personnel have fallen victims to Covid-19 pandemic, bringing the cumulative number of infection among healthcare workers since Feb 9 to 222 statewide.
Sibu District which again topped Sarawak with the most number of new Covid-19 cases registered three medic infection, while out of the 18 new cases in Kuching District today, two of these cases involved healthcare personnel.
According to the press statement of the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, apart from Sibu and Kuching, no other districts registered any healthcare providers being infected by the Coronavirus.
Yesterday, 12 new such cases were reported while on Feb 24, there were eight cases reported among the medics.
State Health director Dr Chin Zin Hing, on Feb 9, had disclosed that there were a total of 162 cases of Covid-19 infections involving medical personnel recorded between January to Feb 8.
On the same day (Feb 9), four new cases were reported, followed by three more cases on the next day, which added up to a total of 169 cases of healthcare workers being infected with the virus.
Subsequently, the number of cases involving medical workers continue to be detected almost on a daily basis with four cases on Feb 11, one on Feb 12, four on Feb 13, one each on Feb 14 and Feb 15, eight on Feb 16, two on Feb 18, one on Feb 19, two on Feb 20, four on Feb 21 and eight on Feb 22.
No such case was registered on Feb 23. — DayakDaily
