41 Indonesians detained for not having valid working permits

GOF personnel conduct inspections on workers at the construction site.

MIRI, March 14: Forty-one illegal immigrants from Indonesia were arrested during an operation code named “Ops Libas” conducted by Miri Batallion 12th General Operations Force (GOF) on Tuesday morning.

The 10am raid was held at a construction site in Bandar Baru Permyjaya, revealed Miri GOF commanding officer, Supt Tan Hiap Semg.

Those arrested did not have valid working permits.

“We also arrested two local men aged 27 and 31-years-old to facilitate our investigations into the case,” he said.

The foreigners are being investigated under Rule 39Bb Immigration Regulations 1963 for violating the terms of their passes and Section 61C of the Immigration Act 1959/ 1963 for not having valid travel documents.

All foreign detainees are currently at the Bekenu immigration depot. — DayakDaily
