LIMBANG, Jan 20: The construction of a 3km road from Rangau near Limbang Airport to Brunei Bay here is progressing at 55 per cent completion, says federal Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Hasbi Habibollah.

According to a report by TVS, Hasbi during a visit to the project site on Saturday (Jan 20), believed that the road has the potential to become a tourist attraction in northern Sarawak.

Thus, he called on the Sarawak government to consider implementing a road extension of 600 metres up to the beach under the same project.

Hasbi who is also Limbang MP further said the road project would attract visitors to come enjoy the beauty of Brunei Bay and the Temburong Bridge (Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Bridge).

“The area could also be developed with the opening of shops, hawker areas and homestays which would enable it to emerge as an attractive destination for visitors in the future,” he said.

At present, he said the project’s implementing agency—Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA)—has submitted a proposal to the government for the implementation of 600-metre road connection at a cost of more than RM10 million. — DayakDaily
