KUCHING, Dec 18: The implementation of ‘Program Jualan Rahmah’ (PJR) in Limbang has effectively alleviated the financial burden on the local community, who were previously struggling with the high prices of wet goods in comparison to other areas.

Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Hasbi Habibollah stated that PJR in Limbang observed the sale of various essential items, including chicken, at affordable prices, TVS reported.

According to Hasbi, who is also Limbang MP, the price of a kilogramme of chicken in Limbang and Lawas was previously set at RM18.90 due to logistics issues.

“(However since the implementation of) PJR, chicken is sold at a price of RM8 per kilogramme.

“Previously, as advertised, the price of chicken in Limbang was the most expensive in Malaysia, but (through this PJR initiative), the price is cheaper,” he told reporters after attending the ‘PJR Khas Parlimen Limbang’ programme for the Bukit Kota constituency yesterday (Dec 17) in Limbang, as cited by the news outlet.

Also present was Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Limbang head Pulnama Tarah.

As per TVS, the Limbang MP has also stated that the government, through KPDN, has allocated RM325,584 to carry out a series of PJR initiatives in the Limbang parliamentary constituency.

“Currently, 16 shops are involved with PJR which offers price reductions of 10 to 30 per cent,” Hasbi added.

TVS also reported that PJR for the Limbang parliamentary constituency has been carried out 23 times, involving urban and rural areas that have benefited approximately 20,000 users. — DayakDaily
