KUCHING, Aug 25: Around 3,000 participants have registered for the Sarawak-China Friendship Run set to take place this Sunday (Aug 27) at 6am at Friendship Park, Jalan Song.
According to a media release, organisers Sarawak-China Friendship Association (SCFA) and Kuching Chung Hua Middle School Alumni Association said the run is organised to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Malaysia-China comprehensive strategic partnership this year, as well as to mark the approaching 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations in 2024.
“The primary objective of this run is to promote healthy lifestyles within the community while simultaneously nurturing a sense of camaraderie between Malaysia and China.
“It holds particular emphasis on fortifying the bonds of friendship between the people of Sarawak and China. This special and meaningful run also signifies a new chapter in the relationship between Sarawak and China,” SCFA said.
For those who have not collected their race kits and bibs today (Aug 25), they can do so at the Friendship Park, right in front of Chagee Tea House, from 10am to 6pm tomorrow (Aug 26).
Upon successfully completing the run, participants will be presented with specially designed medals as tokens of their achievement.
In addition to the run itself, a series of engaging activities have been planned on the sidelines.
These include a riveting 24 Festive Drums performance by Chung Hua Middle School No. 4, coupled with a captivating cultural presentation by the Yi Sing Fukien Dramatic Association.
To alleviate traffic congestion and the hassle of finding parking spots, the SCFA is encouraging participants to consider carpooling to the event.
The parking area within Friendship Park will be utilised as the race track on the event day, so alternative parking spaces located across Friendship Park are available for participants. — DayakDaily
