KUCHING, April 20: The Sarawak-China Friendship Association (SCFA) and Kuching Chung Hua Middle School Alumni Association (KCH CHMS Alumni) will come together to hold a ‘Sarawak-China Friendship Run’ on Aug 27.

According to a press statement today, organising committee chairman Datuk Wee Kok Hui, who is representing KCH CHMS Alumni, said the event was held in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee of the Malaysia-China 50th Anniversary Diplomatic Relationship set to take place next year.

He also said the purpose of this event is to promote a healthy lifestyle among the community and also to foster brotherhood among Malaysia and China, especially strengthening the friendship among the peoples of Sarawak and China.

“This special and meaningful run also symbolises a new milestone between Sarawak and China,” he added.

He also expressed delight that both the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Kuching Xing Weiping and Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng have accepted their invitation and will be supporting the event.

A local running club namely the City Jogger’s Club will be the co-organiser of the event.

“This is the first time for Sarawak to hold this kind of friendship run. This run is open to all Malaysian and China citizens.

“The details of the registration will be published in the local newspapers and any designated social media pages in the days to come. So, please stay tuned,” he said. — DayakDaily
