MARUDI, June 2: A trip to Mulu National Park turned disastrous after three teens aged between 11 to 14, were stuck under a fallen tree on their way out from Rusa Cave to the park’s headquarters yesterday.
According to a report by Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), the 16-member group were 1.5km from the headquarters, when a tree suddenly fell due to heavy rain.
The group’s tour guide immediately rang Bomba at 6pm and gave first aid treatment to the victims.
“Two of the three victims were injured, but could still walk.
“Meanwhile, another victim suffered serious injuries to his back and was taken out using a stretcher,” it said.
All three victims were sent to the Mulu Health Clinic to receive treatment using a 4-wheel drive (4WD) belonging to Mulu National Park.
The victim with serious back injury was advised to receive further treatment in Miri today. — DayakDaily
