KUCHING, June 2: Villagers have recovered the partially intact body of a 13-year-old boy who went missing while bathing at the riverbank of Lubok Mulong Melugu, Bakong near Miri today.

The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak stated that the body of the victim, identified as Agustine Ujang Stewart, was discovered about six kilometres away from the area where he disappeared at 8.25am.

According to witnesses, only the torso of the victim was found, while his head and limbs were still missing, possibly consumed by a crocodile.

Once the discovery was made, villagers transported the body to his home for identification, while awaiting the arrival of Bomba officers for further action.

The search and rescue operation concluded at 12.10pm following the identification process, and the case was handed over to the police for subsequent measures.

It was reported that on May 31, the boy suddenly disappeared in the water while bathing alongside two other friends, approximately three metres from the riverbank.
