3 arrested in Kuching raid for running unlicensed lottery, gambling operations

KUCHING, Feb 7: The police raided three locations in the city that were suspected of running gambling operations and selling unlicensed public lotteries on Feb 5.

According to Kuching district police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, the raid resulted in the arrest of three people, including a woman.

He said that the team also seized about RM219 in cash and three mobile phone units of various brands used for gambling activities.

ā€œA total of three investigation papers were opened under Section 48(a) of the Open Gambling Act 1953 and the remand application for all suspects was approved for 14 days,ā€ he mentioned in a statement yesterday (Feb 6).

In addition, Ahsmon also urged the community to continue to provide information on such illegal activities, especially in Kuching district.
