KUCHING, April 2: A total of 242 athletes from 33 primary schools will be taking part in the Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC)’s 4th Inter-Primary School Swimming Competition this Sunday (April 7).
The schools are from Kuching and Kota Samarahan Divisions and the competition would be held at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre from 8am to 5pm.
Minister of Local Government and Housing Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian will kickstart the event, while Minister of Education, Science and Technological Research Dato Sri Michael Manyin Jawong will be representing Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to close it.
PASC, in a statement, said there would be trophies for the ‘Best Boy’ and ‘Best Girl’ teams and for the top swimmers in each age group.
“Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded for individual and team events (relay) to be competed over 50 metres to 100m distances in categories of freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly, along with a certificate of participation for all swimmers,” it stated.
The competition would serve as a platform for swimmers to display their talents at the grassroots level, to learn sportsmanship, how to set their goals, learn the value of hard work, as well as how to cope with disappointments, shared PASC. — DayakDaily
