KUCHING, April 2: A mechanic was fined RM2,300 in default four months’ jail after he pleaded guilty at the Magistrate’s Court here today to possessing 0.06 grammes of methamphetamine.
According to the charge sheet, Muhammad Zulkifri, 31, from Sibu was found with the drug in front of a workshop at Jalan Sungai Maong Ulu on Feb 20, 2019, at around noon.
He was charged under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and punishable under Section 12(3) of the same Act, which carries a fine not exceeding RM100,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years or both, upon conviction.
DPP Muhammad Hafiz Musa and prosecuting officer Merylene Lindan Andrew Mang prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
