KUCHING, May 12: A 21-year-old rider was killed and his pillion passenger suffered serious injuries after their motorcycle crashed at Bukit Begunan-Sri Aman road today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation center said firefighters from Bomba Sri Aman were deployed to the location after a distress call was received at 7.15pm.
“Firefighters arriving at the location found that the incident involves a high-powered motorcycle colliding head-on with a Multi-purpose Vehicle (MPV) which resulted in both victims being thrown to the roadside,” it said.
According to the report, the victim, identified as Beck Veron Ramping, succumbed to injuries and was confirmed dead by medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) at the scene.
The pillion rider, a 14-year-old, was badly injured in the incident and was brought to the nearest hospital using the Bomba Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS) vehicle. — DayakDaily
