KUCHING, Dec 27: A total of 202 hawkers and petty traders under the Kuching South City Council’s (MBKS) jurisdiction received financial aid of RM1,500 each under the Sarawak government’s financial assistance package Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 6.0 at MBKS’ office.
MBKS in a statement today said those recipients did not receive the aid as they do not have an account under S Pay Global or a personal bank account.
As such, the council said the recipients received their BKSS aid via cash presentation at the council as the Ministry of Local Government and Housing (MLGH) had channelled the aid to MBKS for distribution to eligible recipients.
At the council lobby, the aid was handed over to eligible hawkers and petty traders by MBKS mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.
Meanwhile, Wee extended his appreciation to the State government for allocating assistance to hawkers and petty traders under MBKS, especially community welfare during Covid-19.
He believed such aid would lessen the burden of the recipients and hoped that the recipients would use it wisely.
In the meantime, Wee also wished all residents in Kuching South a Happy New Year. — DayakDaily
