200 trees planted around Rumah Seri Kenangan in conjunction with Senior Citizens Day celebration

KUCHING, Oct 1: About 200 trees were planted within the compound of Rumah Seri Kenangan at 12th Mile Kuching-Serian Road today.

The tree planting activity was held in conjunction with Kuching-level Senior Citizens Day celebration which is held simultaneously in all the State’s 12 divisions, with Bintulu becoming the host for the State-level.

The event today was participated in by more than 300 people, including from various agencies like Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and Agriculture Department, among others.

Batu Kitang assemblyman, who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman, Lo Khere Chiang officiated at the function.
Lo said such activity was a good platform for the people and various agencies to mingle around, while at the same time doing charity works.

He also shared a happy news that this year’s celebration highlight, the ‘We United In Health” mass aerobic workout, which was participated by about 3,218 senior citizens across Sarawak has made it into the Malaysia Book of Records.

According to him, the participation today outnumbered the previous figure of 1,545.

At the ceremony, Lo also presented Kenyalang Gold Card (KGC) to privileged people.

Present was Kuching division welfare officer Norhayati Abdul Rahman, who said that the tree planting was to help the government’s effort to create a greener environment. — DayakDaily
