SIBU, March 15: An 18-year-old boy lost his life after he was hit by a two-tonne iron fence at a heavy machinery transport workshop in Jalan Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce yesterday.
Sibu district police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the police received an emergency call from a 44-year-old local man concerning the incident at 10.48am.
“Police from the Lanang Police Station as well as the Sibu IPD Criminal Investigation Division who arrived at the scene found that the victim suffered an injury to the head as a result of being hit by an iron fence, estimated to weigh two tonnes,” he said.
According to Zulkipli, said initial investigation revealed that there was no element of crime involved in the incident.
The victim’s body had been sent to the Sibu Hospital mortuary for further action.
“An autopsy will be carried out,” he said.
The case has been classified as sudden death. — DayakDaily
