KUCHING, Dec 1: An 18-year-old man has been apprehended by the police in connection with the case of a newborn found abandoned in Bandar Baru Samariang.
Kuching District Police Chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah confirmed the arrest, stating that the suspect was taken into custody at 11.05am today.
The individual will be investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
On Nov 29, a 14-year-old girl was previously detained after an abandoned newborn, with the umbilical cord still attached, was discovered in a housing area in Bandar Baru Samariang
He added that the suspect will be investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code.
Sections 376A and 376B of the Penal Code provide for an imprisonment of not less than 10 years and not more than 30 years, as well as whipping. — DayakDaily
