KUCHING, July 13: Sarawak Health Director Dr Chin Zin Hing reveals that the 18th fatal Covid-19 case in Sarawak and a new positive case yesterday are traced back to Stutong Market and an engineering consultancy company respectively.

“Two companies (the affected company and its parent company) were closed down and we have done contact tracing and brought the staff for tests.

“Another one went to the Stutong Market, we have done disinfection there (at Stutong Market). We have conducted all the necessary action and precautions,” said Dr Chin at the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC)’s press conference here today.

The 18th death case, also the 576th positive case in Kuching, on July 11 involved a 72-year-old man who was already suffering from diabetes and hypertension before he was found positive for Covid-19.

He died on the same day he was tested positive.

Meanwhile yesterday’s case was related to an engineering consultancy company, involving a male colleague working on the same floor with the 575th case on July 10, a draughtswoman.

Following the second confirmed positive case from the same company, a new Kuching engineering cluster has been identified. —DayakDaily
